Vad är doserad guld

What is dosed gold?

What is dosed gold? Gold jewelry has been used for thousands of years. It is estimated that we in Europe started using gold jewelry around 6,000 years ago. But all gold jewelery is not the same and today you can choose between different carats or gold plating. You can also choose dosed gold, which has to do with the design and weight of the jewelry.

What does metered gold mean?

Dosed gold is real gold. In Sweden, gold of at least 18 carats is most common. Dosed gold jewelery is therefore genuine gold jewellery. When you talk about dosed gold, you often mean necklaces where the chains are thickest in the middle of the piece. Imagine a necklace made of small chains or pearls. In the middle of the necklace, they are larger, and gradually become smaller the closer you get to the clasp. Some of the country's most popular necklaces, bracelets and rings fall into the dosed gold category.

How long does a gold plating last?

Gold plating means that a piece of jewelery is made of a metal other than gold. Only the surface is treated with pure gold. How long gold plating lasts depends on several things. An important aspect is how well you take care of your jewelry. If you wear the jewelry often, the gold color may fade after a while. Then it's not as yellow anymore.

This way you keep the jewelery in good condition

In order for the metal to stay in new condition for as long as possible, you should avoid exposing the jewelery to moisture. Avoid showering with the jewelry and take it off before exercising. If you have a gold-plated ring, you should also take it off before washing your hands. Put it back on after drying them.

Something else that can affect the gold plating is chemicals. Do not use gold-plated jewelry when cleaning or applying gels or creams. Keep in mind that even soap counts as chemicals.
